SR BRY Lutheran Loop Event: Dodge Ball
Sunday, Mar. 4th 6pm Dip, dive & dodge your way into a great evening of fellowship and fun! Sign-up on the Youth

Lenten Worship, Meals to begin Feb.22nd
There will be two Lenten themes this year. Every week we will hear about the events of the passion from differ-ent characters, including Herod, Peter, and Nicodemus as Pastor Deardoff portrays them using the series “They Were There.” Our Lenten liturgy will help us get back to the basics as we review the main parts of Luther’s Small Catechism. There will also be a sermon series on the catechism on Sunday mornings during Lent. We will also enjoy fellowship before each Lenten service with a meal, which will be served from 5-6pm to make it easier for families to join in Lenten worship.

Lenten Devotion Books Available
Instead of giving something up for Lent, a more positive spiri-tual exercise would be to add daily devotions to your schedule. If you are interested in doing this, free Lenten devotion books titled Jesus Christ, Man on a Mission from Lutheran Hour ministries are available at the back of the church.

MS BRY Lock-In Coming Feb. 24th

Parents, we need three volunteers to feed the “survivors” who are still awake a breakfast of juice, fruit, and donuts, so please let pastor or the Bd. of Youth know if you can provide one of these items.

Adult Bible Class Views ?Time for a Little Smackdown?
Jesus was always getting in trouble with the religious authorities of his day for healing on the Sabbath and for casting out demons. This week the Adult Bible Study class will discuss how it is still possible for his followers today to get in trouble for doing the right thing. Our study of “Stuff They Didn’t Teach Me in Sunday School” will also take us across the Sea of Galilee for the stories of Jesus calming the storm and his face off against Legion as we view “Time for a Little Smackdown.” Please join us in the fellowship hall for new insights to familiar stories.

MOB Gets in Touch with ?Your Inner Politician?
This week’s devotion and Men of Brandon Bible Study will help us to realize that we have an “inner politician” and how this fact affects our “decision matrix.” Please join us this Wednesday morning as we begin a new Psalm of lament, Ps. 74, and discuss politics in the church, decision making, and how to please God in this process.

Fatherhood Begins Next Sunday
Men, don’t despair if you weren’t able to make it to the showing of “Courageous” last Sunday evening. You can still check out the DVD from the church library, and you can still strengthen your commitment to being a Christian father by attending two short studies. We will show the Lutheran Hour Men’s Ministry DVD Fatherhood by Rev. Joel Bierman on Sunday Feb. 26 and March 4th at 6:30 at the church. These studies will equip you and give you more confidence in the most important job you will do in your life when you serve God by being a father to your children. Please sign up today so we know how many to expect.

Lenten Meals and Worship Begin This Week
This Wednesday we begin the solemn season of Lent with a service that features the imposition of ashes and a celebration of the Lord’s Supper. A six week sermon series on the main parts of the catechism begins this morning, and will serve to prepare us for each Wednesday evening’s Lenten liturgy. During midweek worship you will also meet a new character from the passion story each week as Pastor Deardoff portrays characters from the sermon series, “They Were There.” Our Lenten meals, served by the various boards in our congregation, will be from 5-6 pm and will begin this week with a meal of soups, cold cut sandwiches, and desserts served by the Trustees and Preschool Boards.

Courageous to be Shown This Evening
The men of our congregation get to experience a “step up to the plate” moment this evening as they learn more fully about the joys, challenges and responsibilities of fatherhood when we view the movie “Courageous.” Larry Bone has graciously agreed to let us view this movie at his home on 413 Westview Dr. (directly east of the Brandon Fire Station) at 6:30 this evening. You don’t have to bring anything other than yourself, but chances are good that no one will complain if you bring something like nachos, chips or dip to pass around!

Breakfast Bible Study Meets the ―Shepherd King
After David the shepherd boy became king, no one was shocked by the concept of a “Shepherd King” as they would have been previously. But as we will learn in our study of Ez. 34 this week, not all of the shepherds over Israel were good, and some even “fleeced the flock.” Please join us on Monday, Feb. 13th at Bethany Meadows at 9am as we continue with the good news part of the book of Ezekiel after our breakfast buffet.

How do you keep your sense of self worth when the devil and the world around you tell you that you are worthless? This week’s Men of Brandon devotion and Bible study will tackle this question as we tie together a story of an athletic challenge called “running the hill” with Ps. 44. Please join us on Wednesday morning for a word of encouragement from your fellow Men of Brandon.
