BREAKFAST BIBLE STUDY LEARNS “THE REST OF THE STORY”
Most people know that John begins the book of Revelation with a special message from God to seven churches in Asia Minor. But do you know what happened to those churches, and which of them are still around today? You will if you come to Breakfast Bible Study on Monday May 7th and May 14th. What God says to the seven churches is especially pertinent to the church today as it increasingly faces persecution and the temptation to “go soft.” Please join us at Bethany Meadows on the first two Mondays of May for an outstanding brunch, Bible study, and sharing our prayer concerns.
ADULT BIBLE STUDY KEYS ON LAST DAYS OF JESUS
Holy Week was a busy week for Jesus, as we will see in May in our last lessons this spring from “Stuff They Didn’t
Teach Me in Sunday School.” On Sunday, May 6th, we will learn more about Jesus driving the money changers from the temple, and why he withered the fig tree. Our study of Mark 12 will also lead to interesting stories of how Jesus handled questions about marriage in the resurrection and the widow’s mite. We also hope to cover the segment titled, “The end of the Temple, Jerusalem, and Us.” On Sunday, May 20th we ask, “Intentions are everything, right?” as we see why Jesus defended the woman who anointed his feet. We will also take the trip to Gethsemane and see how hard it was for Jesus to be “All Alone” during this time and at his trial. Please join us for more deep insights into the life of Jesus from the book of Mark.
MOB ASKS GOD TO HEAR OUR PRAYERS
During the month of May the Men of Brandon Bible study group begins a new Psalm of lament, Ps. 80, which asks why God doesn’t seem to answer our prayers. Each week begins with a devotion with an intriguing title, such as, “Sheep Stink, God Saves” ( May 2nd), “Let Your Face Shine” (May 9th), “Our True Vine” (May 16th), “Give us Life” (May 23rd) and “Fixers” (May 30th). Each of these devotions is designed to meet the special needs of Christian men and fathers, but they are also “do it yourself” devotions, meaning we need you to come and supply the answers to the questions and to share insights from your faith walk with Jesus.
